Trailer Registration Costs?????
What does it cost you to register your equipment trailers?
In CT a 22 ton tag-a-long trailer costs $880.00 for one year. A 35 ton detachable gooseneck semi-trailer cost $ 45.00 a year.

Re: Trailer Registration Costs?????
This should be an interesting topic. I can't wait to see how the rate varies from state to state. I will get what we pay on our 55 ton lowboy float and 36' end dump trailers and post them tomorrow.

Re: Trailer Registration Costs?????
in south dakota, your trailers carry a $10 ID plate. one time fee. your pulling unit pays the tax. and we only have to pay a pro rate on that commercial truck plate for the months we use it. if you're done with equipment, return plates by 12/1, and they refund that month to you. when you pick up first of april, you pay from that day to end of year. i comp my lowboy tractor for 44 ton, for 9 months a year, costs me approx $1500.00 but i can pull ANY trailer up to that GVW. my twin screw 10 whl dump trucks i plate for 26 ton, they run about $650 for 9 months.

Re: Trailer Registration Costs?????
I've still never figured their thinking on these rates. But I can understand why I see so many trailers and trucks around here registered in Maine, or Vermont.

Re: Trailer Registration Costs?????
Here in wisconsin its about 800.00 for a 25 ton tag but you can get a sux plate for 80.00. With the sux plate you can only haul your own equipment.

Re: Trailer Registration Costs?????
In CT they have done away with temperary plates for working trucks unless you undergo a level 1 inspection every 60 days. You can get a 6 mo. plate or 1 year plate. A 3 axle truck can only be registered for 53,800 lbs. No mater what the mfg gvw. Cost about $1,100.
A tractor carries the cost of the registration for itself and the trailer. 80,000 lbs about $2,000 a year

Re: Trailer Registration Costs?????
Both of my trailers, a 7 ton and a 9 ton, are 124.00 each per year.
My 1 ton f-350 pickup is 103.50 annually. My dump truck, single axle @ 40,000 gross weight, $1,225 annually.

Re: Trailer Registration Costs?????
The sux plate is supposed to mean not for hire but in this business it would be easy to get around. If you were moving someone elses equipment you could just say you have it rented.
