Total Station

Anyone use a total station instrument in thier work? How difficult is it to learn to use? If you will not use it everyday is it possible to get good at it?

An engineer that we work with has one that he may sell and I was considering it.

Re: Total Station

denick, i have 3 brothers that are engineers, and they run totals, and gps...the longer they use them, the more the total station stays in the office.

Re: Total Station

IMO - they aren't that difficult to learn. The hard part is knowing what they can and can't do. Resections and that type of stuff are very nice - but if you don't follow the right process they can give you very poor results.
Remember one thing if nothing else - turn double angles everytime.
