Threw A Track

Anyone have suggestions on how I install a rubber track on a mini? I'm renting an IHI 45 and threw a track tonight at 8:30pm. Thats one way of getting me to stop working for the night.

How difficult is it to re set the track?

There should be a grease zerk somewhere with a nut around it. Loosen the nut and it will relieve the pressure the grease puts on the track. Then put the track back on and regrease.

Thanks Mat,

I figured it would be a simple fix and waiting for UR to get out here will most likly kill the day tomorrow. I'll attack it in the morning.

How is everything going with the pools.

Re: Threw A Track

Reminds me of a time I saw a guy doing donuts with a crawler-loader on the lot across the street from where I was doing work. He threw both tracks. Tore the one set of idlers on the one side up pretty good, too. Must have been his last day on the job. It was a pretty nice show for a few of us, though.

Re: Threw A Track

Well I wasn't doing doughnuts. Looks like it was just loose and working colse to the trench took its tool. Though I had it set up off the ground, it settled down over night and knocked the track completely off. Took 4 of use to get it back on. The other track was brand new. Odd that they only replaced one track isnt it? So much for United Rentals.
