Thomas Mini-Skdi Steer

I have a thomas gt 25 mini skid steer that I've used for small jobs; digging out a driveway and placing RCA, leveling a slabs in garages.
I finally had to do some work at my house, used the skid to rip out stumps to trees up to 8" and move boulders about 5' round.

Needless to say that my skid is f**cked now. I guess I overexceeded its capacity.

My only grip is that I can get parts to fix it. I've had a machine shop machine me some parts but some of what I need has to go through United Rentals because Thomas doesnt deal with end users directly.

Oh, did I fail to mention that Thomas has been going in and out of bancruptcy.

Guess I'll use it to move some snow!!

Anyone else have good experiences with THOMAS??

I tend to agree with Dayexco, I googled that machine and it is Very small for what you have done with it.

If you want to do the larger work.....get a larger machine, or just keep repairing that one.

When you overload a machine like that, you not only can damage the loader you also create a hazard for all in the work area. Be safe.

Z,

Did you pay a lot of money for the machine?

Did you get some god service out of it?

Are you really behind the eight ball for the repairs?

Buying the odd manufacturer can have it's benefits.

We have a guy from Alaska, dsnAK, who bought one and has had good luck with it. The last we heard from him he was waiting for a plane to South America, I wonder if he ever made it back?? It's been a long time.

Re: Thomas Mini-Skdi Steer

For what I paid, I didnt expect as much as I got. The machine is a brute for what I do with it.

Thomas, the company on the other hand!!, they suck.
Lousy customer service, constantly going in and out of business.
And I have more stories from day one, when I bought it brand new.

Total lack of standing behind their machine since day one.

Only comaplaint I have for the machine, I wish it was a diesel.

Re: Thomas Mini-Skdi Steer

z, i had a thomas 153 skid steer last year...i thought i got a great deal on it...brand new for 12K...but when it came time for service on the machine, we couldnt even find normal parts like filters...i didnt want to wait for something major to break down on me, so i sold it...took a small loss on it, not much

thomas does make a good skid steer and other equipment but forget about getting any help from them...good luck
