Lived on a slough near coos bay. 1bedroom house above a little saw mill.
$80 per month rent. Was single ,had a goat named Bloosem, and a dog named Bandit. Life was simple. Worked 7 days this week ,live in a $900,000 home now. Miss that simple life ! But had trouble making the $80. Why not Wash.? Oregun have more work ? Boeing is booming with
the new Dreamliners . I see $$$$$ in Wash. Soninlaw and Daughter are buying a $800,000 Sonic drill for their Geo-exchange heating Buss.
70 houses ,2 wells each for their 1st project! Good luck

Man, that would be tough to relocate a business like that.

Re: Thinking About Moving.

I'm not sure if things are booming there or not. Thats why I'm asking to see if anyone is from there and to see if they would be interested in hiring me or maybe refer me to someone.

Relocating the business wont be a problem because I don't own this business. This is my father in laws company and I realize that things aren't going to work out in the long run. My family and I want a simpler and healthier life.

Yes, I know the pay isn't as much there, but money is not what I value most. Its my family's health and happiness. I cant afford to buy a home on my single income in CA nor do I want to and I refuse to put my wife to work for a second income. Shes an awesome mother to my 22 month old daughter and my 1 month old son. I will not sacrifice their childhood just so I can say that I'm a home owner. The way I see it is, I take a 20% pay cut but the homes cost 50% to 60% less. I want to live somewhere more rural. Where I wont hear my neighbor fart in his stucco box that is 10' away from my stucco box. I want to live off of my land as much as possible.

I know all of you guys out there are looking for an employee like me. I'm that guy you you're wishing would put in an application for your company. I don't mean to come off being cocky, I'm just confident.

Well its just an idea right now, just running the numbers to see whats possible and seeing if anyone has an interest in me. I don't like rushing into things like this. This will be a very important decision for my family.

Washington is also a possibility. Her and I both have some family in Oregon.

Re: Thinking About Moving.

I live in Eugene... I wouldn't say booming. For me, steady and growing. I do know lot's of folks that are sitting, but high end doesn't seem to slow down much. Not in need of an operator myself, but someone probably is.

Re: Thinking About Moving.

Check out central Oregon, when I lived there in the late 90's it was really booming. The cost of living was a bit higher than the rest of the state but nothing like CA. Portland is a great city, but from the sounds of it you are not looking to live in the city. There are some great remote places there if you can find work to suit you.

You'll do well MC, you have your priorities strait!

My wife quit her job just as she had our daughter, it's been 8 years and I have no regrets. Sometimes things are tight budget wise but we manage.

I hope it works out well for you, oh and congrats on the 1 month old!!!

MC if you end up heading out to Oregon and decide on the Bend Area I can give you a few names out there. I still know a pretty big landscape contractor, the kind of guy who knows everybody in town.
