Steel Track Maintenance
Hey Guys,
I'm getting my first steel tracked machine later this week, I've always had rubber tracks. What do you do for maintenance on yours? I see a lot of you clean them every night, what does that entail? Thanks! |

Re: Steel Track Maintenance
I use a small spade shovel that alot of concrete guys use between thier forms when pouring concrete. Just clean up all the dirt and mud that accumilates between the tracks on frame and around idlers, and around sprocket especially if you live in a cold climate where material could freeze. Generally not much maitanance, check your manual to see how much slack they call for in the track and keep them adjusted to that tolerance. Also if you're on a real muddy site in the winter we run the machine up on wood planks to avoid machine freezing to ground, especially over the week ends.
