Skid Steer Tires

What kind of Skid steer tires do you guys recomend? I am looking at the solid airless types with the holes thru them for ride comfort? Do these tires last longer than conventional air inflated tires? I have priced a few and at over $700 they are a bit pricey. I am on pavement about 75% and in dirt about 25% tired of flats and downtime, I also want to run steel tracks with them. Re: Skid Steer Tires

I still run air in mine. I buy the heaviest Firestone brand and have had good service from them. I won't go with the off brands period.

As far as the airless, the ones with the holes through them are good, a softer ride than the solid.....But the holes will hold stones and soil that can get deposited along the way after you get back on the roadway.

I can't stand the foam filled or solid. Not only is the ride rough they really give poor traction in my opinion.

McLaren Rubber has some tires of the type you are interested in, check them out.

As you have stated the non air set up is way more expensive, I don't think the life span would be equal money, but the no flats could be worth the extra $.

Let us know what you decide and how it works for you.

Re: Skid Steer Tires

I dont have alot of experience with skid steers but i have driven a couple. I must say air tires are the better except when running steel tracks. The one skid steer i ran years ago with steel tracks was always pushing the tires off the bead when turning. We had to run 50-60psi to keep the tires on the bead.

I believe 60 psi is the recommended pressure
