Setting Up Pipe Lasers
What is the most common way of setting up your pipe lasers.
Up in Toronto we set the laser on its T bar in the man hole. Set a scope up standing above it on top of the cone section, plumb bob down to be centered on top of laser. Site in on hub, then move beam with remote to get line. Any other ideas, Ive tried using the clamp that hooks on the cone but its a pain. Thanks Ando |

Re: Setting Up Pipe Lasers
too much work. we just attach a stringline to front of laser, stand on top of manhole, pull string so slack is out of it, and look ahead to our next manhole stake, line up the string and the beam....done deal. you need to have 10-15' of ditch excavated to get the beam out of the hole a ways

Re: Setting Up Pipe Lasers
We set a transit on top of the manhole drop a plumb bob down on the center of the pipe and shoot the next hub. Then drop the transit down in the ditch and align the laser with the transit. The first piece of pipe should be laid with the transit. After that is done correctly, then put your laser in.

Re: Setting Up Pipe Lasers
rino, try this. it's MUCH faster, and if you have a good eye...VERY accurate. we haven't used a transit to setup our alignment in years

Re: Setting Up Pipe Lasers
I don't get point "B" it looks like the string line is resting on the laser beam
what exactly does that represent?

Re: Setting Up Pipe Lasers
i don't know what the squiggly "B" lines is...unless it represents excess string line. we have laser alignment "leica" lasers...and on the top front of the laser housing directly above the centerline of where the beam comes out, is a groove the width of a string line that you slip your string into.

Re: Setting Up Pipe Lasers
OK so the string attaches to the top of the laser is and pulled taught?
This will allow you to site down and line up both sections of string and the target point which would be the 2 stakes? Makes sense. Thanks Day. |
