Removing Old Asphalt From Paver
I need to remove asphalt from a paver to replace a conveyor belt underneath it. I was wondering if a steam cleaning would help or some chemical might soften up the hardened asphalt. The hopper is not full or anything like that just built up on the rollers and on the sides. I have a lrge propane torch but the belt rides on wood slats and I am tired of burning my arms any help? thanks Tim Doyka

I would NOT use gasoline. You could end up in the Hospital.
![]() I would consider spraying it with diesel fuel and let it soak a while. Heat from the torch is probably the quickest way. Put on a coat so you don't get burned. |

Re: Removing Old Asphalt From Paver
I have used some of the more enviromentaly friendly products like concentrated orange based solutions. You can apply it straight and its as good if not better than diesel fuel and almost as good as gasoline with out the explosive consequenses.
The use of a release agent (like deisel) and a torch is definitly the fastest way but I have never heard of a paver with wood slats. Obviously a torch would be bad for that.
