Price Per SF Demo 5" Concrete Floor?

Was woundering what you guys are getting to demo & remove concrete slab. I was asked to bid a 31,500 SF warehouse floor the floor is elevated 4' above the parking lot. 2.00 a Sf is what i normally charge but it is a high volume job should i discount it a bit?

How long will it take? What're my daily costs? What other expenses will I have? What unusual or less than obvious risks am I taking? How much profit do I want to earn? All those divided by the quantity.
That's how I figure unit costs regardless of the scale of the project.

More info needed...like what does it cost to get rid of? Steel in it? Hydraulic hammers needed? Or can a trackhoe rip it out?....I have seen concrete we could breakout with a Bobcat...and some you had guys with 120lb jackhammers on...lots of variables.

Well to get rid of it it would cost 600 a dat for a triaxle dump + 150 a load and a recyling plant is about 2Mins away. Or I could get 20 cy containers at 300 ea but that would cost more. There is min wire mesh inside the slab not sure if there is rebar. The slab is cracked heavily in between the colum lines it has doped as much as 8". I was actually thinking bringing my PC-45 with a 900lb Hammer to reduce it and then rip it out and load it with a skid steer or a small loader. The other thing is to bring in a crusher to make 3/4"- RCA and use it as base.

I'd think the crusher would make the most sense, do you own that one shown in the pic post?

I don't think that mini crusher is worth the cost for the output that it will produce.

Nac,

How much room do you have in the parking lot?

What is the access to the building?

How open is the inside?

What height clearance?

Interior or exterior obstacles?

Nac,
Get the job set up and then get the machine there for a demo looks nice and compact. Have you ever seen the crushers that are like a bucket and go on an excavator, crush a bucket at a time. I'd like to see that in action.

You have a colum about every 30' apart and probably 20' hiegh ceilings. There warehose is empty no ubstuctions. the floor is 4' above finsh grade and the only access is threw standard 8' wide loading dock doors one wall has 10 doors. You have 100x 50 parking lot on one side and 250 x 30-40 on the side where the loading docks are.

Re: Price Per SF Demo 5" Concrete Floor?

Nac,

I had asked the questions about room to see if it was possible to haul in 60 - 80 yards of material to make a ramp so that you can access the interior easier and handle the material less.

At 31500 sf and 5" thick it looks like 485 cy of material in place. We always figure 60% more yardage for broken concrete. If the floor has sunk 8" can you use the crushed material as base to level up the floor? With the mini crusher can it be processed inside and put right back down?

We have with our Bobcat and 250LB hammer gone in buildings and broken floors in place. Taken the hammer off and with the thumb backed the truck in and load out in a reverse direction with great success.
