Re: Pictures

You mean like here when we did some footings for an additon to a residence?

Cut subgrade for crawl space, and dug out for footings, placed rebar and concrete?

Re: Pictures

Six foot side yard, luckily the mother lives next door so we encroached a little with the erosion fence. Drains in and foundation sprayed waiting for inspection.

Re: Pictures

In my mouth, and in pretty good shape I might add. Oh you must mean the mini teeth on the cutting edge. Nick, this is a real long, long story, let me see if I can touch upon it some. We did this house in New Fairfield on a clients lot, well the first time I went to see the lot I begged the powers to be in the main office to let this one go, but to them a sale is a sale Anywho, 400' x 25' accessway to the lot, on the side of a hill, slope going side to side. Littered with boulders some litterly 20' across. Oh yea did I mention there was a SNET pole in the middle of the accessway on the road, or the fact that we had a 5' ledge outcropping at the edge of the road? Anywho we rented a 220 with a hammer ( nice new machine ) kept it a month. Now I should say on the lower side of this accessway and the lot are (4) abutting property owners whose wells are probably 20 - 25' off the edge of our right of way, so blasting wasn't an option, besides the hammer was needed to break up all the boulders. Did I say that the lot itself seemed like it was peppered with every fricken rock imaginable, pulled some out of the septic area the size of v.w.'s that I had to restore the area with septic fill before I even put the 1.5 feet it called for. Doing the accessway as I was going along I laid the utility conduits so I wouldn't have to dig that son of a gun up again . On top of all its problems did I mention that this lot was towards the bottom of a mountain that was sort of funnel shaped so you had water coming towards you from every direction? I think I started this site some time in Oct. and we got some pretty heavy rains, well there was so much water running down this hill I'm sure you could have ridden a kyack down the rapids I was like holy sheet but then in a day or two it was ok again. This is never going to end! Moving along! Anywho, (3) of the abutting neighbors complained about the water ( They always had problems, seriously ) The job is done accept the last neighbor, now when his house was built I'd say 20 yrs. ago they left an open swale in his back yard with a c.b. in it piped with 12"cmp out to the stream in front of his house. The flat top on this C.B. is actually higher than the berm on the swale ( over the years it must have worn away ) so like after we got that 2' of snow in Jan. (I think ) and then heavy rain a couple days later between the rain and 2' of snow melting off the mountain I no you could have kyacked down them rapids. Three rows of erosion fence held back 95% of the mud but did nothing to slow down the water which breached his swale because the tops to high which was always a problem for some time but now they had us to blame for it. Anywho the town won't issue the C.O. untill this is resolved, which has been going back and forth between our clients Atty. and the neighbors Atty. We've been using the 115SR and the mini on other jobs and leaving the 200 SR there basically cause we really didn't need it and didn't want to move it out then have to bring it back again. C.O. to client, but what we have to do once it;s resolved is set new C.B. more in line of water flow entering neighbor's swale, rip rap about 60' x 6' and then create a small detention area 20' x 20' using some of the remaining large boulders to intercept and slow the raging water course before it continues. Oh my God I'm done. So thats why I havn't gotten any pics of teeth, but I havn't forgotten. Next time I see that machine I'll take them, gee hope it's still there!

Re: Pictures

Nick,
We used some boulders to retain the lower side of the property ( about 300' ) 6-8' high then used the hammered rock for fill to raise the grade on the lower side of the driveway. BTW the wall isn't pretty but it's doing it's job.

Re: Pictures

This is a foundation that I dug last week. The reason that the pipe is in the ground first is because it is a superior wall system. The next step is 8" of crushed stone. The 2nd pic is me dipping stone out of our truck for the garage footers. Actually, I am the one taking the pic, that is why nobody is in the machine

Oh yeah, notice all of the nice rocks in the dirt. Try grading that crap.
