Loegering VTS track system.

Has anyone used a Loegering VTS track system on a skidsteer. I'm thinking about buying a set in November for a big job I have coming up. This would be for my S300 Bobcat.

Heres a link.

MC,

I've seen the track system you mentioned and was thinking of buying a used machine and thought I might try that set up but never got any farther than the thinking end. It would be interesting to hear how the system holds up.

New - 16 to $17,000 for the larger skidsteers. $12,000 for mid size.

the local cat dealer is setting up some wheeled skid steers with those tracks and selling them new that way. apparently there are some concerns with the cat/asv track system and some of their customers like this set up better. the only negative i have heard about them has to do with the way they are driven. only heresay to me, but they say the rear drive motors are what drives them and as a result take some extra wear. maybe someone else has more background on this.
good luck,

Looked at a set yesterday at a trade show here in Ky. They only get power from the rear axle. The life of the tracks depends on the operator & conditions. But for the price I would have to go with a set of solid tires & over the tire tracks.

A guy who does my tree work has a Volvo with them. It broke one day and wouldn't move. After removing the inspection covers we found the chain that drives the rear wheels broke. The front chain wasn't doing anything, because the track is driven only by the rear. I guess the original design spread the torque between two chains, but with the track it overloaded the one chain.

For the cost involved I think the over the wheel tracks are a better option. I have a set of the McLaren rubber OTW tracks and got good service from them for about $3,500 when I bought them a few years ago.

I agree with the design of the Logering's being hard on the rear sprocket drive of the host machine, (they are not designed to have all that force on only one wheel).

And for the $12 to 17K added to the cost of your machine you could put a serious down payment on a new tracked skid loader.

loegering vts tracks

i bought a set in may 2006 for my case 95xt. bear in mind i or my kids run this machine. i never run my engine over 75%. i paid $13,500.00. no regrets. one thing, keep the tracks tightly ajusted or you will slip them.happned to me once no big deal getting them back on though. be mindfull of replacement tracks. i live in fl. i should have bought (c) pads but i bought a straight bar pattern and it's to agressive for sand. this caused it to shear the axel mounting studs.cost me $70.00 / side to replace with no sweat. took me and one of son's my less than 1 hr. to put new tracks on. i first tried mcclearen i had to ajust them almost every week or the tires would spin inside the tracks when in wet areas. some times i could not even get it on my trailer. same deal with solideal ottt.plus i had to buy 4 hard sidewall tires for almost $900.00. i always regret after spending apx.$ 9'000.00 with shipping that i did not buy the vts.one other thing check hubs often for lube.reason they do not sell internal parts. the complete assembly costs $932.00 plus shipping.

I bought a wanna be track machine in 2005 it was an older NH LS180 w/ Loegering tracks. It was a good machine as long as you were on level ground , put it on a slope it was this biggest piece of junk I ever owned.
The tracks were constanly jumping off the front , or the drive motors were heating up & going out. just buy a track loader if thats what you need dont waste good money on a wannabe.

16-17K for the tracks? Are you outta your mind? I recently bought a T300 bobcat with 614 hours, heat/AC, power bob-tach and 2 new buckets for about 27K.... I wouldnt even consider add on tracks with all the hassle of on/off and the machines not being designed for them....

i have a set on a case 90xt with about 900 hours on them and am on my second set of tracks however when something goes wrong they can be a pain they have a lot of moving parts compared to most factory track systems. one thing nice about them is that they have a shock absorber built in so they are smoother to operate.
