Are LinkBelt Excavators Any Good
Hey guys Im looking at a 1990 linkbelt 2700 CII. Any of you guys know anything about these machines? It seem in pretty good shape, I just rarely see anyone in my area using them. Its under $20k

Yeah, they're OK. I can't remember who was making'em then but they've always been "OK". I'd look hard at parts availabity before pulling the trigger. The old LinkBelts ran Detroit's (loud bastards they were) but I think they went to Izuzus for the C2's. If it were me, I'd be looking around for an old Hitachi 160 or 200

Link-belt, Sumitomo, Case....they are all the same. I haven't heard anything bad about them. My cousin has 2 of them and he likes them. Like Pipe said, dealer support is #1 thing to look at.

the dealer support and parts is what worried me the most I was really close to buying a 160 link belt. The price was unreal. 114,500 with a hyd thumb. Our dealer is just an ag dealer that started selling construction equipment. I liked the machine. It was very smooth and power was great. The price was great but I couldn't take a chance on a machine going down and not get part right away or have a replacement.
