Komatsu PC-50 Track Problems

I am a private contractor and purchased a new Komatsu PC-50 MR in May 2005. The machine is equipped with rubber pads bolted to steel tracks. At approximately 800 hrs. the tracks started coming off the rollers and tightening the tracks at the suggestion of Komatsu did not help.
Komatsu had me take machine to their dealer, power washed, took measurements and said they would work with me but repaired nothing.
At 1200 hrs. they sent out a track specialist who took more measurements of track snaking worn bushings. He said the condition the tracks are in the chains are ready to break.
The district manager for Komatsu said the reason for the condition of my tracks is because I use the machine as a bulldozer. Truth is I have used the blade as a bulldozer possibly 2% of total time on machine.
I presently have 1600 hrs. on machine and almost impossible to keep tracks on when turning or working on even a slight slope.
I would like to here from anyone who has a similar problem as Komatsu is telling me no one else is having the problems I am.

Re: Komatsu PC-50 Track Problems

I have heard concerns about this with mini's and rubber tracks but not with steel tracks. Another big concern for using them like a dozer is drive-motor life decreases with hard pushing.

Re: Komatsu PC-50 Track Problems

I don't know anything about that particular machine or the track design.

But I would ask them why they would put a blade on an excavator if they did not intend it to be used as a dozer on occasion.
