Introduction
Hi everyone,
I've been reading this board as a guest for a few weeks ... decided it was time to join. Appreciate the informative discussions. After 27 years with the Navy (4 active military/ 23 civilian) looking at a possible early retirement this Fall. My goal is to get a business up in running shortly thereafter ... so at age 51 I'm trying to get things in order now. Looking forward to the ups and downs of owning my own small business. I'm located in south central Massachusetts. Background skills/experience: Navy welder/deep sea diver, used my GI Bill to get an mechanical engineering degree, experience with hp air and hydraulic systems, built my own home (GC + framing/finish, subbed out most of the trades), bought a 1999 CAT 416C backhoe 4 years ago and have about 2000 self taught hrs on it. Hope to be able to contribute in return for all I have (and will) learned / topics presented to think about. I also have experience with gov't contracting if anyone ever needs some assistance with that. Duff |

Re: Introduction
Duff,
Just so that you know, if you keep posting on the excavating & Site Work Forum someone may call you a "Dirt Head" someday. Just ask Joe when he gets over it. Nick |
