IH Crawler?

Anyone have and experience, good or bad, with IH crawler loaders? Denick will laugh, but my cheap search found a T150, 4 in 1, bucket, 50% undercarraige...and should be a demolition machine...before I mail the check, any negatives out there?

Re: IH Crawler?

You say you gonna use it as a demolition machine? Whatcha got in mind?

'bout how much you think it's gonna cost to haul it? Maybe you can pick up some jobs along the way.

Re: IH Crawler?

joasis,

Sorry I missed the thread some how. I know 175's and 250 Int. were rugged machines. the break out power of thier bucket linkage was superior to the CAT's of their day. If you have a parts source you shouldn't have much trouble if the machine isn't all beat to death. The undercarriage is always the big cost/problem item.

What is the weight class of a T150? What year is it? Cab? ROPS?
This is just for your property?

Re: IH Crawler?

6 cylinder diesel, 20,500 lbs. We still do enough demolition to pay for it, or justify it, but it is going to acreage where I am building....clearing trees and digging the pond. Hope I get a trucker to pick it up in the next week or so.

Re: IH Crawler?

I didn't even ask...dumb as that sounds. I offered him 5k after the sale ended and he accepted. Now...if I can get it hauled as a "partial" or LTL on a flatbed coming through, it may only cost me another k to get it here...if I have to hire it priority, it may get expensive.

That is a nice looking tractor.

I can gurantee that whatever the hour meter says, it is far from the truth. It prolly had 3 different hr meters.

Re: IH Crawler?

I saw a Cat a little bigger then this one clearing timber, and it could literally pull trees up, root ball and all...if they could get the bucket over it...I'm looking forward to it.

One last question excavator guys: Is there any reason nearly all these crawlers had street pads instead of grousers? I know the newer Mitsubishis I have seen have "V" shaped grousers....looks like great traction. That is my only concern for working out on the land....traction.

They do suck sometimes in wet conditions. My own opinion right or wrong, but I always thought it was easier for all the tight turns they usually make loading and what have you. And also you want some slippage when digging into a pile of material.

Re: IH Crawler?

That is a sweet looking machine. Looks like the bucket will do a great job for demo. I notice there is no protection in the cab though. Better be careful of falling debris when that cafeteria is falling down all around you, Jay.

Good luck with it, man.

Joe is right, the pads are eaiser on the tractor for turning.
