Re: I HATE Snow!!!

Sorry to hear it day. How about some pictures of beautiful Watertown, South Dakota in snow? Commercial? Town? or Residential work?

We gave up snow removal 25 years ago. We had 27 commercial accounts. I don't think anyone in the public knows how wearing snow removal can get.

I hate it too! That's why I live in So. FL. Why does this remind me of a Sam Kinniston bit?

I just hate the plowing part of it. I love to snowmobile. With each snowfall depending how much we have 25-30 hrs worth. That doesnt include clean and hauling after we get a few hours sleep

Re: I HATE Snow!!!

I love snow. Sure I can't work too much when there is snow and ice out ont he roofs and ground, but that snow and ice is a huge part of the reason I work. Send more snow!

Today we have freezing raid, and snow forecasted for the next 4 days. My roofs don't leak so I have nothing to worry about. Send more snow!

I put my employees on unemployement so I don't have to worry about keeping them busy and I budget my company and personal finances on a 10 month work year so technically I don't have to work 2 months out of the year and still pay my bills.

Re: I HATE Snow!!!

I was going to start a new thread, but this is the perfect spot to ask this.

I have a friend in the Lake George, NY area. He is a plumber, but his cousin is an excavator. They load up all there trucks and haul the equipment South for the winter.

I though that was a great idea , but didn't know if it could really work. He tells me they have been doing it for years.

I do not like the snow, but my year is budgeted off of about 180 work days. So money is there for the winter bills. I just hate seeing the money go out and not come back in for a few months.

I'm with ya Day!

They were calling for rain/freezing rain here today, well 5 inches of snow and 7 hours later, I just got home from pushing that crap around.

We'd still be out, but it's melting pretty good and cleaned up quick.

I would have much rather been home w/ the family.

I don't mind the clean up after the storm so much, we have apartment complexes that will pay us to come back and do spaces while all the cars are gone.

And the money is pretty good, but I would much rather have good weather and be able to do our regular work.

Re: I HATE Snow!!!

yeah, the money is dang good, i'm just getting old enough where i don't enjoy being out all nite going back and forth, back and forth...
when we used to do apt. buildings. they were done during daylight hrs. typically 8-5. the apt manager would post signs on the door, that their cars had to be moved by a certain time. we got to the point where we charged $30 per car "nuisance fee" to the property owner for all cars that were left in the lot. that REALLY helped.

Re: I HATE Snow!!!

385,

Is this Town, State or private work. Do you see the money in June?

Good luck. Aren't you glad it waited long enough to snow alot until a few weeks after that baby came.
