Does anyone make a small hydro seeder for a skid steer?

Re: Hydro Seeder ?
Never Seen a Hydro Seeder for a skid steer. Do you mean a Hydro Rake?
Hydro Seeders are water tanks with a mixing valve and a jet The do make small tow behind Hydro Seeders though. |

Re: Hydro Seeder ?
check out www.turboturf.com for info on small hydroseeding units. there are other brands but that should get you started.

Re: Hydro Seeder ?
I know what they are. I know the small ones are on a skid I was just wondering if they made one with the skid steer plate. I think it would be nice for loading and unloading. Might have to rig one up.

Re: Hydro Seeder ?
I bought a turbo turf slightly used last fall. Haven't done much with it but winterize it after I got it.
But it is designed to be picked up with forks to load and un-load off trailers and trucks. Unless you are looking for something very small I doubt a skid steer plate attachment would be of much use. Even a 300 gallon unit would have 2,400 pounds of water in it when filled, add the weight of the unit and that's more than any skidsteers capacity. Unless you're talking about just handling it when empty, then I could see some benefit but why not just use the forks attachment.

Re: Hydro Seeder ?
What skid steer do you have, cat385?
I just looked at turbo turf's site and a 300 gal has a loaded weight of just under 3,000 lbs. and is just under 8' in length. I'm not doubting you but....that's a whole lot to hang out on the front of a skid loader, even the big ones. Could be a fun ride though!

Re: Hydro Seeder ?
What I observed looking at the seeder I purchased (turbo turf 500 gal) is that the manufacturer really designs them to be supported along the entire length of the frame, when loaded. (read into that lightly constructed.)
When I first got mine I thought that instead of buying a trailer specifically for the seeder, I could buy a 6,000 lb axle and install it under the frame work that supports the water tank, engine and pump systems. The more I looked at it the less feasible it seemed. As far as this particular brand, I think you would have to beef up things to move it loaded. I don't have any experience with others they maybe built stronger. If you get a chance to look one over you'll see what I mean. Could be based less on what the loader can handle and more on what the frame of the unit can handle. |

Re: Hydro Seeder ?
also, my skid has the holes for the forks on one end. the end with the engine. so that would have the center of the weight when using forks a couple feet from the forks. that would make the weight seem like more than it actually is. i agree that at least the turbo turfs weren't meant to be moved around like that when full of water. a call to them and they will answer any questions. i tow mine around on a small single axle trailer. if needed i can tow it across a yard with the tractor. or i'll leave it in the bed of the truck and drive it around. my unit is only 300 gal. though. bigger units would need a bigger than 1 ton truck.
good luck, |
