Hey You Wizards Of Wastewater


I bid my first septic system job this morning. It included:
-5000 gal precast septic tank 15L X 9W X 10D (41K# pick)
-Microfast 4.5 pre-treatment unit w/ remote mounted dual process blowers and control panel in 17L x 10W x 13D precast vault (42K# pick)
-Duplex pump station w/remote mounted control panel in 10L X 10W x 14D precast vault (35K# pick)
-600 lf 1-1/2" pvc-26 pressure sewer 7' deep
-48" diameter diversion manhole with 3-way x 1-1/2" pvc distribution manifold and ball valves
- (3) 6L x 4W x 4D distribution boxes with 3-way x 4" diameter pvc distribution manifold(s) and ball valve(s)
-(9) 7' deep X 100L X 3W x 4H, distribution trenches with crushed stone, 4" pvc distribution pipe and cloth cover.
-misc. conduit and wiring from mechanical equipment to remote mounted control panels only (electric services by others).
-all in "good digging" on open site

My price was just shy of $170K. Any comments?

I guess this is for a commercial site. Those boxes are pretty big. How much are they charging you for the crane ?

rino - the precaster will set it upon delivery for $2800

It looks quite a bit more complex than the typical gravity systems that I have done in the past.

I can only guess that those are good numbers. Only problem would be that some of the guys in my area don't know how to charge enough to make a decent living.

The last gravity system I priced out was around 11K, some guy did it for like 6,500.....I had almost 4K in stone! I don't know how the guy did it, or worse yet, what kind of finished product the H/O was left with.
