Foundation Movement ????
I am located in the Dallas Texas area. And of cource our soil her has a lot of movement here. The question I have is. Since I am in a area where the foundations move so much. I have been told in order for this to not happen as much you are to keep the area around the foundation moist especially during the hot summer months. I guess what I am trying to find out is when the soil is dry under the slab and around the house the foundation does it settling process and goes done and then when it gets wet it moves back up. Is this correct in this process. I have had people tell me thatthey have had some croacks in therir brick work and then they keep it real moist and the foundation started going up and there was no longer any visible crack showing. I was just curious on ways to keep the house from dropping dopnw and one in and the other stays. I am probably confusing everyone, if so sorry.

Re: Foundation Movement ????
I'm familiar with expansive soil. We try to keep it dry all the time. Wet and then dry and dry and then wet is the culprit around here.... I guess wet all the time would be better than wet/dry. I would try to get something from a local geo-tech engineer who is real familiar with your particular condition.
