First Time Seen

I saw a lady operating a backhoe yesterday at a construction site. Are there any in your area?
Not trying to be chauvanistic, but I've never seen a female excavator before

although it's been about 7-8 yrs since she's been on one, my daughter was very good on a hoe, women have a tendancy to be fussier than guys. best pipelayer i've ever had was a woman.

Re: First Time Seen

I have never been brave enough to climb on a backhoe, but I've gotten pretty mean with a bobcat. It's just a personal challenge for me though, not a career choice. I'm the "office" but Ken suggested we crosstrain in case anything ever happened. I couldn't replace him by any means, but I need to know my s*** to be able to supervise the guys in his absence.

Re: First Time Seen

There's a builder just north of me who probably does 12 - 15 houses a yr. he handles all the phases of the building ( he prefabs the houses in a big Barn, so weather dosen't slow him down, puts it all on a flatbed and erects it with an all terrain crane ) His wife handles all the excavation they work 12 - 14 hr. days ( to crazy for me ).
