Question

Drain Tile

Getting ready to run some drain tile in front of my house. What's the best size/depth of trench, & what should I put in/around the tile? Pea gravel?

Re: Drain Tile

Could you make the question
a bit more vague?
Don't be so specific, it ticks
folks off when you bog things
down with so many details.

Re: Drain Tile

I take it that you are putting a drain in your yard as a curtain drain. As far as depth, that depends on the soil and how the water permeates through the soil. You may have to go 2' or even 8'. We use what is called 2B which is 2" minus. We line the bottom with a thin layer of stone, install the perf pipe then fill up the rest of the way with stone. If you are gonna cover it up, with dirt, put down a layer of filter cloth or hay first then cover. If you have a lot of run-off and you are trying to catch that, then leave it open.
