Dats The Breaks Folks !

Ok, I have a 2002 F-350 utility body, pretty well loaded. The first set of breaks I got 40K miles on. I had to change rotors and new pads, about 1100.00. Now last week I had to get new u- joints rut on drive shaft ( 3rd ) set. Truck now has 60K miles and the dealer calls me and says your rotors and breaks need to be done Only got 20K since the last time, another 1200.00. I have been pulling equipment trailer more since the last break job, and now that I have a new trailer with breaks on both axels I'll see how the mileage goes till the next time. What ever happened to the little squeallers that told you the pads are low? Anyone else with similar break problems with Fords?

yes. we returned the shoes to NAPA only to be told that the first NAPA store sold us the wrong shoes (too light). 3rd set seems to be wearing OK.
Short version - buy OEM parts from Ford.

I buy ALL my brake pads from the dealer, (ford) and get pretty good life from them. I always have to replace the brake rotors on my truck. The heat warps them too much.

I do all my own brake work though, much cheaper that way. Besides I don't trust those guys at the dealership to put all the bolts back all the time!

Joe, I can hear the squeaky thing for about 2 days then mine go quite till the damage is done.
