I thought it was a nice show, and also liked the convention center location, anyone else make there?

Re: CT Connex Show

Hi Nick,
I went Thursday at 10:00 with my girlfriend and stayed for a couple of hours. I haven't been much involved in excavating for the past 15 years so I think I'm invisible. The kobelco blade runner excavator really caught my eye, but just a little out of my price range!
Did you buy anything?

Jon,

We were there 11:30 to 2:30. The Kobelco was impressive. I never buy anything at a show I don't want that show feeling to cloud good judgement. My wife won't let me either. Your a landscaper? plants and mowing? or hardscape?

Re: CT Connex Show

Hi Nick
My primary source of income is landscaping, started with doing installations but over the years have scaled it down to mostly maintenance for a small number of customers, I also do carpentry and smaller home repairs. I have been thinking about starting to do excavating this year, I grew up on and around heavy equipment, I recently dug a foundation for a friend and realized I still enjoy it. There aren't many business around here hiring, so I'm looking into just starting out doing small work with a maybe a mini excavator.

Jon,

Not much overhead and investment in what you do now. Do you want to get into excavating just as another side work, or will you have a speciality? Will you phase out the other?

Re: CT Connex Show

Nick,
I'm not sure if I know ctkiteboarding but I'm sure we have mutual friends. I would like to do excavating fulltime, but I'm realistic and know it may not work out, so I'll keep doing landscaping for a while.

Joe,
If you don't ask for the price... it's all pretty cool to look at!
