Chop Saw?

I was at the shop of one of our gravel suppliers today and he showed me a Milwaukee chop saw he just bought for his shop. It has a metal blade with
?Carbide? tips. He cut a piece of 4" x 5/16 stock as fast as he could pull the saw down. Then picked up the cut off piece by the sawed edge. It was only slightly warm. There were almost no sparks as he cut with it. I've never seen that blade before.

Re: Chop Saw?

A friend of mine has one of those. Nice clean cuts, teeny tiny pieces of steel left, like wood chips.

Milwaukee also makes an 8" hand held metal cutting saw. Like a typical circular saw with an extra guard. (I have one of these)

They are great for mild steel but don't do well on hard stuff like re-bar or bolts.

I bought mine to cut metal decking for a slab we were doing. Cut the decking like butter.

I think these saws run at a slower speed than a typical cut off saw, so don't try just any saw with one of those blades, it won't give you good results. (kills the blade).
