Re: Chinese Excavator

Well getting the parts for cummins motors would be no problem, but I wonder about getting parts for the machine itself. I'd rather stick with a machine where parts are easily attainable.

I see from their ad that they ship via UPS. I'd like to see the big brown truck that delivers one of those to your front porch.....lol.

I saw that too, made me chuckle. The seller also said $120 per cubic meter, dunno how that's calculated.

That's the UPS ground rate- if you want next day air, it's $300/cubic meter.....lol. Actually, that rate's not too bad as long as it's based on the bucket capacity and not the cubic meters of the machine....

I'm guessing it's more like "what size crate is needed to ship the machine?". Let's see? 12M x 3M x 5M x $120 = $21,600. For shipping 25 mt half-way 'round the world, that's not too bad is it? Sure can't truck it.

Re: Chinese Excavator

that's why i'm buying "off brand" stuff...like the hyundai. and the hyundai was a great move, has been a wonderful machine. "any" money i make, i'm buying farm land and renting it out. rental income is "unearned", and there's no witholding social security on it. like getting another 15 cents on every dollar you make. i wish i could adhere to the advice my dad gave me..."don't borrow money for depreciable assets"...that was 70's advice. we all know for the most of us that doesn't hold true anymore, equipment costs too much for the bulk of us to buy new outright. BUT, that's why i'm looking at machines like hyundais...and this chinese machine. if it will crank out net profitability as a cat or a deere....guess what i'm going to buy

Re: Chinese Excavator

Day,
Does that come with "Chop Sticks" , or are they optional? All kidding aside back in "87" when I bought my Mitsubishi gray market excavator people said I would regret it and not be able to get parts. It was the best move I ever made, used it 10 yrs. and sold it for a
1/3 of what I paid for it. Made out real well.

Personally, I have no brand loyalty. I must say however that I'll have a hard time dropping big money on something like an excavator that's made in a communist country like China. It's bad enough the small engine and tool stuff comes from there but supporting thoose rat bastards with big ticket purchases like excavtors is probably where I have to draw the line.

I wish Pipeguy hadn't said it first. but I stand with him. I don't shop Walmart, and I question every purchase I can. I know it's impossible to not buy something that has something made in China in it. But I sure am going to try.

I don't want my kids and grandchildren to wake up and find out we are now a Chinese Colony because Our Country defaulted on our debt.

Day, none of those manufacturer's are in a Communist country that is bigger than we are. Every company in China is owned by China! Don't ever forget it! They don't!

I agree with your concerns Day. The thing is though China isn't S. Korea; it's not even Japan, France or Italy. China is Cuba, Russia, Venezuela, N. Korea, Iran all rolled up into one giant enemy of freedom and human rights. Enough said. I'll take it to the P&R forum.

Re: Chinese Excavator

Day, I imported a compact tractor with a FEL, hoe, wood chipper and some odds and ends from China in fall '05. There are a few things to consider: You have to clear customs (paperwork), have a way to transport this humongous crate. It will probably come in a shipping container partially assembled.
Depending on the size of the engine there are EPA classifications you may or may not have to meet.
My tractor is made under the name Jinma, however the factory will put any name you want on it if you import enough of them. The tractors sold by Northern Toll in their catalogs are Jinma and they name them NorTrac.
For tons of info I suggest you check out the Chinese Tractor Owners Assoc. website. The dealers there and a lot of other members (myself included) can get you a lot of info on pros & cons of self importing. It is not as hard as it sounds if you do your homework.
The machines themselves are kind of "old tech"power train wise, but their hydrauclics can be a pain and tend to leave a lot to be desired. I re-plumbed my FEL because of the crappy spool valves they use, but the tractor is built like a tank and can take some abuse.

www.ctoa.net is the web site.

That is pretty good advice. The prices of new iron is way up and I can't see getting anymore money to do the work. The last brand new machine we bought was in '01. Everything else we have purchased has been used equipment. Used is just as good as new, if not better. They just need to be pampered a bit and they can do the same amount of work.

My dad has made up his mind that he won't buy any more new iron. We have purchased quite a few machines at auctions and have quite a bit of good luck with all of them. In the summer, we passed up a Kobelco 210 with 8 hrs on it for $112,000. If we had the work at the time, I would be running that right now.

Re: Chinese Excavator

The Chinese are not buying your dirtwork so why support their child slavery-rat bastard asses? They intend to kill us all one day after they close all our factories......... John Deere 690E - Valves German, main pumps American, Engine American, Boom and stick welded in USA, undercarriage - frame, maybe cab Japanese. Hoses US. 4,599 clean hours [united rentals] bought for 35,000$ even the Chinese cant match that. Thats only about 75 cents per pound of great iron. NO UPS fee!
