Never know who isn't going
home tonight.

Maybe later stories will
make it plainer just what
he was doing at the time?

Freak accident. It reminds of those guys who practice "Noodling".
More than one of them has drowned from having their arm trapped.

Re: Careful Guys

What a terrible tragedy.

I am sure there must have been a better way to make that pipe replacement.

Just another one of those "I will just be there for a minute, I don't need a (insert protection equipment here). I have done that a thousand times and nothing happened." When you aren't afraid of the work, you need another job.

Re: Careful Guys

That would be horrible to watch the hole fill with water and not be able to do anything.

Re: Careful Guys

I doubt there was anything that anyone could have done short of ripping his hand off because the hole filled up so quick. But tragedy's such as this can serve to illustrate what can happen, and, hopefully, not happen again.

Re: Careful Guys

When I was 17 living in Orlando FLA I had to replace a section of pipe, the pressure from the water in the building, ( 3 floors) came rushing in and started a sink hole we had a sump hog and I was dropping with the sand, I didn't notice at first but when the pipe reached past my knees I dropped the tools and started climbing the hose FAST I almost pulled the dam pump into the hole. omfg

Another reason to be carfull......... Gators... Look before you leap into the drainage pipe! My brother in fla just sent me this. While inspecting the gaps in a newly installed pipe.
