The Business Of Our Type Business.

Would your business be better if you hired someone to run the business and you were in the field producing work?

Or should you not be in the field and just be turning out estimates, marketing the business and doing the paper work. Safety, Regulations, Etc.......

Have you ever thought of doing it either way?

Denick

My greatest asset to my company is me shooting the bull with my clients and developing a relationship with them.

In the field, what gets me by is my work ethic. But I know of 10 people right now who could do my field work at 10 times the efficiency as I can/do.

I also know 10 people right now who could handle the office/admin, marketing, sales, and probably even estimating 10 times better than I could.

So in other words ... if I could get to the point where I can be wearing clean clothes, clean shaven --- and jibber jabberin with the HOs all day --- and making sure everyone else is doing their part

I'd have it licked

Ooooh rah! I'll second that. I am PR, idea person and financer. As soon as I step outside of those roles, my business suffers.. and I do it way to often. An owner wants his baby run right. As soon as I can practice better what I preach and delegate everything that needs to be delegated and stay hands off.. well, life would be peachy.

Not really.
If you follow trhat theroy, there would not be any large companies. I have trouble letting things go so I would have a tough time letting others do their part, but I also know that this is the very reason I can not grow my business past its current point.

If you can set up a company to be run by and worked by compentent people and you sat as CO, you would be building a company that is marketable. In other words, not only would you be making money on the work you do but you could end up making money on the sale or aquasition of the company. Maybe some day for me, but I just can't let go yet.

Our business would benefit greatly if we found a really good operator. Problem is, competing with the big companies that do rate work and can provide insurance.
