Re: Bidding Job

Hi IHI,

The thing that I have always done is go out and talk to people. Stop in at any place that might be able to use your services and say hello.

My short list is plumbers, electricians, well drillers, masons, pool companies. Cable, electric, gas and telephone companies. Any industrial company with a large building area.

This is not easy for me as don't like to talk to people I don't know.

Re: Bidding Job

I am the same way, but, once I break the ice with someone, then I can talk their leg off. Heck, I could have a conversation with a post. lol. Just one of my weird idiosyncrasies. One thing I have been doing is getting permit info off the computer from building department and then visiting the sites and meeting new contacts that way.

I can relate to this. I am a complete introvert. Until I get to know somebody. I am just down right no good at small talk. It's a damn good thing I can add and subtract

Re: Bidding Job

Welcome IHI, I can't add much to the advice above, most of my work is by "word of mouth" advertising.

I too am not fond of "breaking the ice" so to speak, but I have barged into many site trailers to drop of cards and introduce my self/company. I never know if when I walk out the door......will they throw my business card in the trash, or give me a call in a few weeks.
