Best Way To Find You Foundation Guys
Whats the best way to locate you foundation guys? No one in my area advertises (NYC), so I generally goto the concrete suppliers. Any suggestions?

Ask other contractors on who they use.

Re: Best Way To Find You Foundation Guys
It can be hard to find a good sub. The good ones work for a general and build without quoting by the individual job. It is based on quality and performance that gets a general on his way to making money.
Usually the ability of a foundation contractor to get in and start immediately gets the future home owners off the contractors back. If the foundation is square and level, a good builder does not buy on price, but on performance. Look for a good looking basement job, stop, get out and ask the people on the job who they work for. If you are considering a block foundation, the local block producer can be a great source. If it is poured, do not expect much help from the ready-mix supplier, since they are more geared to big volumes and big jobs. Good foundation contractors do not have to advertise since they help their customer (the builder) make a profit.

Re: Best Way To Find You Foundation Guys
im not sure if the PM is enabled on this forum. it doesnt seem to work.
i do most of my work in queens and brooklyn. residential is primarily what i do, although i might be doing a mixed use in queens. problem is that foundation guys are very easy to find but the ones that are reasonably priced hide out during the summer. i had a a guy do a very nice underpining, excavation and foundation for me last year. i also gave him the block, brick and flat work. wrote the guy checks for over 100k on this 1 job and i can barely get him out now. i had another nice job for him (120k) but he priced it and then got lost on me when i needed him for some flat work and a small extension on a residential rehab. i dont like to do business like that so im searching for a new guy. -e |
