Being Certified

In some areas, I have seen that to install a sanitary sewer for a house that you must be a certified plumber. Also, some areas require you to be certified to install septic systems.

In my area, we don't have to be certified at all. Even to design a septic system we don't have to be certified. We do have to have it accepted by the sewage officer though.

How is it in your area ??

Re: Being Certified

You need to be licensed in Ct., I've held mine for about 20 years.

Re: Being Certified

Call us backward, but in Arkansas you must be a licensed plumber to install a sewer. Taps are the purview of the waste water authority. Some you can do as a plumber, some you have to have them do.

For septic, you must have a certification to install/repair/replace. Installations/replacements must be designed by the state and installed to their specs.

The above goes out the window on private land 10 acres or more except for the septic. All private waste water systems must be designed or approved and inspected by the state. I think the landowner can install the septic himself in this case, not sure.

Re: Being Certified

Tn requires installers license, but from the foundation and the works inside a plummer is required. Municipal requires a state contractors license.
