April 15th How Are Things

Here it is Aprill 15th in 2 weeks away from 1/3rd of 2006 gone by. How are things going work wise. It was a very slow winter for us. We have work but there does not seem to be a spring rush on yet. The phone has not rung alot. We are a different customer base than most as in our largest customer base is weekend / country homes for NYC and surrounding area people. We don't have "housing developements" evrything is mostly custom and not much spec building.

Similar here, not terribly slow through the winter, weather was mild and almost no frost this year.

I've been running around putting a lot of bids together, a few have come back. But delays due to the "mindless" have cost me some production time. I think it will be a busy summer.

I Don't do anything for "housing developments" all my work is renovations, custom homes and a little for private homeowners.

APRIL 15th

I have been spending a lot of time lately trying to catch and correct the mistakes of my highly paid accountant. These people are driving me nuts.

Things are looking good for me. The numbers aren't rolling strong yet but things are just kicking off for the season.

I picked up a cool backhoe attachment for my Bobcat so money can't be too bad.

Winter was really slow for us.......work is starting to pick up now. I think that people are scared with the rising interest rates and price gas and heating costs.

I've been scarey slow-slowest period to date in all my yrs actually and at this point in time I'm getting nervious. I've been doing alot of estimates lately but nothing materializing as of yet-lotta tires kickers, other's saying price is to high, luckily I'm still owed quite a bit from this winter but we all know how that goes it might show up middle of the summer when I dont need it like always

Friend with a guy that owns an asphalt laying company and they're in the same boat, he says for the past 15 yrs they're yr is over book by April 1st and as of yesterday they had 5 jobs lined up so they're sweating bullets to. BUT I talked with a buddy that is a under the table cash kinda guy and he's swamped...go figure.

Hoping something happens soon, getting ready to stick mama on the corner to bring in some money's

Same thing here. The one builder we do work for is sitting on 8 specs since late summer and fall and can't sell them. Needless to say, he owes us over $60,000.

Hey Bob,
How deep will that puppy dig? I have a Gehl Skid Steer and what I like about mine is I can operate the backhoe attachment from inside the machine, don't have to change seats. Although I think you can still special order them that way but now they usually come like yours.

Been working it pretty good. Your right about one thing, I was surprized at the power it offered, even in rock and clay.

If I could figure out how to balance it, it would throw my Bobcat around like a nose guard on a horse jocky in a friday night bar fight.

Kentucky Area. My winter was consumed by a restoration of a 1905 single family from when it was a '40s remodel to a three-plex. That is about to wrap up . my phone is not ringing off the hook but my back orders for smaller jobs will go well into the summer/fall. The larger job calls (additions/porches) have not started yet. Usually the jobs begin rolling in first week of May (gotta get past Kentucky Derby) or have to be finished by the Derby. Happy Easter all! Joe.
