Thanks guys. This will be my 2nd one. We have a 2.5 yr old girl now. I don't know what is going to happen now. My wife had health insurance through a state program called chip. She just got dropped from it because of my salary. We are appealing it. If I don't get that insurance, I don't know what we are going to do.

Re: Another One On The Way.

as hard as you're working..."from what you're telling us".........it sounds as though your family biz should have been able to support an ins. plan for you, or be able to compensate you for a policy with a high deductible at least. sounds like you need to sit down w/your dad and get a few things straightened out rino. life's waaaaaaaaaaay too short to be betting on the come.

i'd best justify my comment.....my dad worked the dog crap out of us boys, gave us squat....i'm not giving my son the world, but he works his ass off, and i'm damn sure going to make sure he's compensated well for his efforts.

Re: Another One On The Way.

Congrats! We didn't have insurance either. I cant remember how much it was. Didn't really care. Just gratefull to have a healthy one. I cant believe how much health insurance costs now a days. We did the drywall work in a doctors basement awhile back, and he thought we were so good at it and did such a good job. So I asked him jokingly if he wanted a job. He said only if it pays a hundered bucks an hour! I just wanted to burn his house down!

Congratulations rino and also to your wife.

Just don't waste a moment of your life worrying about the cost. Spend that time being a good husband and father. Ten's of thousands of people go through the same thing each year. It will all work out.

Re: Another One On The Way.

My wife and I just had an unassisted home birth 5 weeks ago. She gave birth to my son Eathan Alexander. He was 2 weeks over due and weighed 7 lbs 12 oz. My wife did all of the work while my 23 month old daughter and I waited patiently.

We have health insurance, but chose to do things this way because hospitals treat birth like an illness. Hospitals are for sick people. We tried to have a home birth with my daughter but my poor wife was in hard labor for 23 hours. By the time we got to the hospital she was finally ready to come out. The hospital didn't even do anything worth while for us anyway. They just harassed us and wouldn't let my wife and child go home for 3 days because she was barely jaundice (sun light cures this problem) and she had "hip problems" and that she would probably have a hard time walking. We didn't make a big deal about us getting released because we feared they would report us to CPS (child protective services) for being bad parents. They where right about her having walking problems, she skipped walking and went straight to running at 8 1/2 months old.

The decision to have unassisted births for my children is pretty crazy some would say. "Home births, thats that new thing going on?". Actually its thousands of years old. Hospitals are the new thing. Only 3 American presidents have been born in a hospital. Even Jesus was born in a barn! Births happened way before hospitals got here. If birth is so dangerous, how is it that in third world countrys they manage to get themselves over populated without hospitals???

Well sorry for the rant, but my point is that there are options.

Good Luck Rino and Congratulations!!!

Well, my dad pays for my health insurance, his and my moms. It cost about $500 per month for each of us. If I were to add my wife, it would cost around $650 per month since she is not a employee. My mom has searched and searched for better group rates for small businesses.

Re: Another One On The Way.

Hey Rhino, COngratulations! Man has not created anything that matches the miracle of life, so enjoy.
I raised 8 kids as a cabinetmaker. We never had insurance, infact insurance has only been around for what? 50 yrs or so? What have humans done for 6000 yrs without it?
I traded with doctors for 2 to be delivered, eyeglasses, dentist appointments etc...
Looking back I dont know how we did it, I know we worried at times but here I am and they are all raised and I have almost 11 grand children. DOnt know where the time went, But I know its a juge waste to worry because it changes exactly NOTHING!
So again Enjoy everyday with your wife who brings you joy and your kids who make you laugh, that may well be all one gets out of life!
Regards, Joe
