Air Block On Fuel ?

Running backhoe on gravel road with pot holes, pretty bouncy. Dies like outa fuel. Has 3/4 tank full. Add 5 gals of diesal next morn starts fine!
I'm thinking the bouncing grabbed some air ,and blocked the fuel. Any ideas??? Thank's Drift

Drift
You either have to go slower or take paved roads.

Re: Air Block On Fuel ?

I would be suspect of the fuel filters as opposed to "catching air" through the pickup tube in the fuel tank.

Or possibly a slightly loose fitting on the fuel line that allowed some air in during your rough ride.

I also would recommend a little less speed on these back roads.

Re: Air Block On Fuel ?

Drift,

It can be anywhere from the tank on up. It could be something in the tank. The pick up line in the tank, A line that might have a crack, Fuel filter gasket, If you have a glass fuel bowl (especially the 2 piece ones they are notorious for this on some machines). If something happens (in your case maybe a real bouncy trip) allows air in or blocks a line under suction it can be fine after it sits for a while whether you added the fuel or not. It might not show itself until the circumstances are right again.

Maybe Elast will stop by and have some info for you.

This is a good time to have My friend service it. And yes I do need to slow down on the rough roads. With that heavy hoe on the back things can get interesting FAST
