Thumbs down Agtek Complaint

I have been and am president in the sitework estimatlng business for 15years and have many more years experience in the business.
I use the Agtek system software for my take-offs I know no other system.
My security key (hasp) timed out for some unknown reason.
I called Agtek support - before I even spoke to them of my problem they wanted $850 for the phone call. What they should have done is replace the security key instead they have given me the runaround.
I have in the past wanted to upgrade my Agtek system - what I found was they do not compromise on the price (which is very very high in comparison to other systems). Agtek thinks they are the only software company in town.
I am frustrated throughout with my experiences with Agtek.
I would appreciate if any other contractor has experience with another system that is accurate reliable and fairly easy to use or even more so a contractor who has used Agtek and went over to another similar product.

Is your business estimating or sitework? What do you take-off with Agtek?
How many takeoffs do you need to do in a week? Are you taking-off large quantities of earthwork? paving? what? do you need to integrate takeoffs with estimates? estimates with A/P?

there's lots of products out there - some good. Some better at certain things than others. Some expensive some not-so-much. Tell more about your needs.

Now my philosophy: Tell me what you want so I can make a recomendation.

Wow....

A guy offers to guide you in the right direction if you'll just give him a bit more info and you insult him.

Nice manners.

on what basis do you get paid? by the acre? per hour? by the SF of floor space? fixed fee? a percentage of the job cost?
how do you assure customers that the information they've paid you to compile won't benefit another party with competing interests? please share.

Thumbs down Agtek the behemoth

I'm not trying to be a wiseguy - but I stated what I am looking for!

"I am in the Sitework Take-off business - Have lots clients from Site Excavation Contractors to Developers- obviously fed up with Agtek - Do you have recommendations for any other sitework software?"

I'm looking for SITEWORK SOFTWARE similar to Agtek - Please any suggestions?

I find this ridiculous. You are in the business of takeoff's for people that can't do them for themselves and have no idea what other software your competetitor's are using????? WOW I know exactly what my top five competitors use for takeoff software. Agtek Charges so much for support because they can. Do you provide GPS mapping or surveyor interface for your clients??? People ask questions because they are trying to help you out. Snarky comments are unnecessary. By the way it's called GOOGLE you type it into your address bar at the top of your web browser

Good luck

Gee aren't we touchy!

I'm looking for a substitute software for Agtek it's a
simple question.
Is this a forum for contractor help or a way to vent
frustration?
I'm really a nice guy so cut the advice - I don't need it!!

I am confused..............didn't this whole thing start because you asked for advice. As mentioned before, Google is an amazing thing and it probably won't make you feel insulted.
