I don't even need a license to be a GC in PA, though some townships hit me up for a licensing fee to do pressure washing there. Some states allow you to pressure wash but if you apply stain you need a license. Maryland is like that.

I hear ya, Copus. What are ya gonna do? The cost of doing business. I just lost a job recently because of it. The lady called the township asking if she needed a permit. We were replacing a handrail and staining the deck. The job was small.. billed at $800. She then informs me I have to get a township license to perform work. $100 for the right to do business in this lower income demographic. I told her I had to bill her for it as in four years of doing residential work, hers is the only job I ever bid from that township. That didn't sit well with her.

That is really sad.
We have a situation here in Texas that you have to have State Licenses and then duplicate them in every town you work in??? Plus carry the bonds etc...They seem to want to make it hard for us guys

If you have the money for insurance, decent equipment and the time to spend researching the right way to perform cleaning, then go for it. If you are out of work, will buy a cheap Home Depot piece of crap and learn as you go.. please stay home or continue looking for work. I'm sorry to come across as harsh, but we don't need any more half cocked guys calling themselves a pressure washing company.

I'm in Spring Hill Fl. Hernando Co. I just need an Occupational license to pressure wash. You need to check with your Tax Collector to see what form of license you need for your county.

I agree with Paul all you need in most counties is a Occupational License. In fact some counties in Florida don't even require that, so check with your county. I am located just southwest of Gainesville where most of my work is done. I have advertised also in Ocala. Take care and good luck! Hugh

Ken the PressurePro is indeed very strong on promoting the highest standards in the pressure washing industry...
I am new to offering it as a distinct, and separate service.
There is a LOT to learn regarding technique and various applications far beyond purchase of professional level equipment, which is NOT inexpensive.
There is significant difference between HD presented units and pro units in both quality and production capability.
A great amount of expensive to repair damage to surfaces can be done with almost any pressure washer.
There are also fed and local laws regarding water pollution that must be adhered to under threat of serious penalty.
It's NOT and ez way to make a buck!
