Horrible Mold And Algae Pressure Wash

Well, it looked scary, but it was easy. These should make great shots for the website.

That wasn't that bad! I could still see the siding in the first pic. Bad is bracket fungus and things that look like rotten cauliflowers hanging on the walls, maybe a termite mound somewhere.

Re: Horrible Mold And Algae Pressure Wash

Nah, no mold there. This was easy, but still had some tough stuff to deal with. Not all of what's on that wall is just mold. There was algae and climbing vines/suckers, etc. Algae has a seriously tenacious grip, but we got 'er looking good!

Is that just pressure washed, or painted also?

Sorry not to mention the 'nice recovery' part. Good job!

Re: Horrible Mold And Algae Pressure Wash

Hey thanks guys. I try....

It is just a pressure wash. Nothing more. However, we don't use high pressure on any siding. I prefer to let our mix do the work and give a light scrub with a gentle rinse. For me I like to let the scrubber do the scrubbing and the pressure washer do the rinsing.

For this house all I used was a touch of sodium hypochlorite, tsp, and tide cold water laundry detergent. Time for one man about 6 hours with interruptions from some fierce rain. Oh, and most of it was done off of a ladder up close and personal.

This is a very large two story home though. We have now turned our attention to the interior which includes 16 rooms to be painted with two coats of Duration Home Interior. Talk about a nice project.

For what its worth. I just saw an episode of "Extreme Makeover Home Edition" where the womans husband died from exposure of toxic mold. The mold was located in his basement. I knew it could make you sick, I did not know it could kill you.
For those in this field of power washing, better start wearing some type of protective equipment even if its all outside work.

Re: Horrible Mold And Algae Pressure Wash

Yeah, 6 hours, one guy on a ladder all by his lonesome. Don't let the pics decieve though, this is a huge house. We are currently painting a total of 16 rooms inside, and that is not including three bedrooms that were recently done or the kitchen which is just wallpaper. It could have gone quicker if I did it myself, but that's the beauty of these employees I've hired. I don't have to, and I still make my profit at that rate. I'm sure they'll get better as time goes on...
