DELAVAN PUMPS Warranty No Good? PRI Industries Don't Honor Warranty Either?

This is what's going on with me and Delavan and PRI Industries-

DELAVAN pump problems-"NO HASSLE" warranty no good? - Today, 10:55 AM

DOUBLE CLICK IMAGE TO ENLARGE-
Image is at "THE GRIME SCENE" this page would not accept it?
I recently bought [Feb 2nd 2007] 3 Delevan pumps. The first one quit working after about 3 weeks. The 2nd one never worked on a job at all, it just starts up and slows down. The 3rd one is running fine.
I read the warranty that came with and it's attached as a photo scan.
I just talked with Steve Perry at Delavan and asked if they would honor the warranty and he flat out said "NO WE WON'T" {HIS EXACT WORDS BEFORE HE HUNG UP ON ME}
I bought these pumps through PRI industries and they also won't accept them back, they said I had to deal with Delavan. Of course, that's not what the warranty says!
I'm sending the pumps back today, hoping that Steve Perry is just a poor employee and that Delavan itself is reputable and will honor their warranty. Of course, the part about "NO HASSLE WARRANTY" can no longer be the truth and it is clear that the part about "return the pump to your dealer" is false and as I said the p[art in the warranty about "Call the factory and ask for us to ship one to you ASAP" is also already over.
This could have been a great company for us, but dishonoring written warranties is BAD BUSINESS!
I will post later and let everyone know the outcome.
Just ignore the part of your warranty that says "NO HASSLE" It's a big, big, hassle!!!
Fortunately, I still have 1 of 3 pumps working and a Sure-flo for backup. At least I KNOW Sureflo is a reputable company!

What was their reasoning for not warrantying the pump?

Delevan agreed to accept the pumps back for inspection.
But no guarantees for replacement and it was going to cost me $16. + to ship them back.
PRI Industries was the real "BAD GUY" as they sold me the pumps, with warranty and then refused to even discuss the poroblems and sent me straight to Delevan!
ON THE OTHER HAND- Pressure Tek Sales, voluntarily offered to send me out 2 new pumps and said they would deal with the return!
NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
So, I got my new pumps and they run great and all is well.
Delevan pumps are certainly the way to go. I have used SurFlo for many years and this is a whole new beast, that takes 1/3 the time to do a roof.

Yep....Bob is one hell of a guy.

And a very smart business man. I guess we won't have to ask where you will be taking your business from now on.

I called PRI about a replacement pump. I got the number, ordered it online. It came in, and it did not fit. They had given me the wrong part number. But I STILL had to pay a restocking fee! The pump they sent me had a 3/4 inch spline and I needed a 7/8". For the 7/8" model they wanted another $30 or so. Same pump, just a little less metal in the shaft.
I just returned it and did not get the 7/8" one from them. Shipping & restocking cost me about $50.
Thanks for telling me where I can take my business, because it sure isn't going to be with PRI.

Bob takes care of his customers.
It is important that NO pump is forever spraying what we spray.
But one should get a reasonable amount of service from their equipment.

I agree Chris. The mixtures that we use in roof cleaning will eat up any pump over given period of time. The question is how long should a roof cleaning pump last to be considered a reasonable life span?
I know I've used other brands of pumps that I've bought locally from suppliers here in Jacksonville Florida that failed way faster than I believe a roof cleaning pump should.
I actually just ordered a Delavan the other day from Bob, so I guess I'll have an opportunity too form my own opinion of the pumps soon enough.

I know of people getting 6 months or more out of them.
EASY to exceed the duty cycle on BIG jobs, if not careful.
They are a wonderful pump, FAR better then Shurflo's
Big 5/8 or 3/4 inch hose makes em last even longer.
The pump works less hard.
