If it works with great results and you and your customers are happy with it - great. Some of the wood care products we use have the same ingredients, and they are excellent. That is the main ingredient of my favorite wood cleaner as well. I was simply referring to unbuffered chemistry.

Which he originally lead us to believe was being applied!

Re: Bleach???

One product I love is called Simple Green. I'll buy the concentrate and then dilute it, lay it with a chemical injector, then wash it away with a wide fan spray tip.

Great results most every time.

Re: Bleach???

Most surfactants are NOT compatable with Bleach.
We are testing a TRULY Bleach compatable surfactant.
Our Tampa Roof Cleaning trucks are currently using it in our tanks.
More info here Roof Cleaning at the RCIA Forum
Be careful what you mix in with Bleach.
Dangerous fumes can result.

That being Ammonia.

Mixing with Lye (NaOH), does not create fumes but it does create a very large and dangerous amount of heat!

Re: Bleach???

Never mix SH with ultra or concentrated dish soaps with SH. Do not mix oxiclean with SH.

Dawn Original only if you want a good surfactant with your SH, but I have to ask about your deck...

Type of wood
Current finish latex/oi?
l clear/semi/semi-solid/solid?

You need to clean/Strip/pH balance then coat after the moisture is out of the wood.

Re: Bleach???

If you look at the ingredients of that '30 Second' outdoor cleaner stuff you'll see it's mostly TSP and bleach.

Re: Bleach???

adding fuel to the fire...

I use a special mixture of bleach, borax, dawn, shock it, and water. I actually use it for vinyl siding and just experimented it on a deck one day and had fantastic results, so that's what I use now.

Re: Bleach???

As far as the TSP goes you have to be careful because it can etch glass. When it dries if not properly rinsed off you will have to scrape it off.

House washes I use Dawn, 12.5 SH, Sodium Metasilicate and a few other goodies to kick it up a notch.

Re: Bleach???

Im sure your machine has a downstream injector.... forget about store bleach. its weak and cutting it 50% is weaker! Find yourself a pooly supply or chemical distributor and get fresh 15% Sodium Hypoclorite

http://www.pressuretek.com/ and order the simple cherry house wash , you also have to order a few special tips that allow you to shoot your chemicals high. Call Them.

Mix that up in a 5 gallon and down stream, let it dwell for a few mins and low pressure rinse.

No need for TSP unless you are doing paint prep.

Re: Bleach???

On a deck that neglected like the one I did recently, I used the sodium hydroxide based stripper because it has such thick crud on it and then followed up with a citric and oxalic acid combination.
