Whole House Fan - Kinda...

Hey A/C guys - greetings from the electrical forum. I wanted to know if there was a way to set up my heating/cooling system to work as a whole house fan in those months where I only need air movement. I currently have a 2 year old Goodman furnace (15 kw) with a Goodman heat pump. My previous home had a whole house fan in the attic that would suck all the outside air in at night and keep the house cool for the rest of the day. It seems logical that my system could have the ability to do the same thing. Am I just a dreamer, or is there actually a way to do what I want?

It could be done with a zone damper, peanut relay, and a two stage cooling t-stat. I can't say how effective the system will work, but it can be done.

parents had a whole house fan that worked independently of the heating system. it was hard wired to a timered switch. a little aggrivating, but effective.

So you want to pull air from the outside in at night? or do you just want to move the air already in the house? If you just want to move the air in your house, turn the fan swith on the stat to on. the link below might look interesting to you also.
