For Those Who Use Pellet Stoves .....
Just bought a pellet stove for the shop. Was wondering if pellets are pellets or do certain kind or brands burn better then others?
Thanks! |

Re: For Those Who Use Pellet Stoves .....
I've been trying to find a small one for my garage. During my research, here's what I've found out about pellets:
Pellets burn very cleanly and create only a layer of fine fly-ash as a byproduct of combustion. The grade of pellet fuel affects the performance and ash output. Premium grade pellets produce less than one percent ash content, while standard or low grade pellets produce a range from two to four percent ash. Users should be aware of the extra maintenance required with a lower grade pellet, and that inconsistent wood quality can cause serious effects to the electronic machinery over a short period of time. Of course, there are multiple types of pellets; corn, wheat, etc. You need to make sure your stove will handle what you burn. Geographical location determines what's most readily available in your area (eg. Iowa, corn would be plentiful).

Re: For Those Who Use Pellet Stoves .....
I agree with Angus, I have been using a pellet stove for years.
I use these, they are about $1.00 more a bag, but worth it. I have tried the others, do not seem to light/burn as well, more ash. Make sure you store them in a dry area, I use metal trash cans on my enclosed patio. |
