Thermostat Nomenclature

Hi fellow techs.

I just added this into my post in the DIY forum. This is information that everyone I am sure will appreciate. There are a bunch of you out there that probably already know this. Just wanted to share it with those that may not.

Old / New

V= R (24 volts hot)
RC=RC (24volts hot Cooling)
4= RH (24 volts hot Heat)
M= Y (24 volts output Cool)
R= O (24 volts output Reversing valve, heat pump)
F= G (24 volts output Blower)
H= W (24volts output Heat)
Y= W2 (24 volt output Heat, heat pump only)
X= C (24 volt common or neutral)

Hopefully this can help one of us when we get into a pinch.

Good luck
Rusty

Hi Everyone

Just wanted to say, if I missed anything you may need here. Check my post on DIY chatroom called facts about thermostats.
