Starting A Propane Pilot Lamp

I've done this a dozen times over the last 4 years. This time is different though. One of my tanks developed a leak over the last winter and needed to be taken off line to be repaired. It finally got back and I put it on and just today got it filled. It had been opened lined for about 6 weeks.
I did what I always do, turn the knob on the gas valve and push the red button. I did this for a few minutes and it wouldn't light. So I went and checked to see if the regulator was letting fuel through and it was. So I do have pressure in the line. Is there a way I can purge the line or do I need to just keep holding the red button until the pilot light ignites. Thanks.

Re: Starting A Propane Pilot Lamp

Never mind, I got it. It took 20-25 minutes of me standing on a ladder 15' in the air holding that little red button. But it finally fired up and I have heat . Just in time, the temps are going to drop to normal levels for this time of year. They've been about 60-65ºF during the day when they should only be in the upper 40's. The warmth gods were smiling down on me .
