Standard Water Heater Vs Power Water Heater

Hey Fellow HVAC guys, I am currently working on a project that is asking for a powervent water heater. I am not too familiar with the powervent and have a few questions. Beside being about $1200 per unit, I understand the the powervents comes with a motor on top to vent out any carbon monoxide out a 3" PVC pipe. My developer does not want to spend the $1200 for the powervent water heater. Can I install the standard water heater and connect the flue to the PVC pipe? any inputs will be great. thx

Dat-

Good God, if your asking that you have no business. Just cause you have your B, obviously doesn't make you a plumber. Your messing with things that can be dangerous. Call a real plumber guy

Re: Standard Water Heater Vs Power Water Heater

If the developer is insistent that a conventional water heater is installed, the B vent must extend above the roof line. To make provisions for a chase for the b vent after the fact on top of the cost of the B vent, it is likely cheaper to suck up the extra $$ for the power vent where the PVC can just be poked out the sill or foundation instead of the extra material and labor costs involved with an atmospheric B vented water heater.

How about electric, no vent needed?

Why is anyone giving him advice if you don't know the answer to your own question how in hell did you get your license . And if you don't have your license you shouldn't be touching gas.

Call someone who has put powervent's in before, It may save someones life
