Sourcing An Older Gas Furnace Valve

Hey folks,
Any one know where I can find a gas valve for an older Tappan gas furnace, model GWF 80D48E3? My local supplier says "no gots," and I haven't found one on the net. Got some time to find one as I have the gas capped off for now, but the fall is coming, and i'd really like to replace the valve and not the whole unit, albeit it's old.
Thanks for your thoughts

You should be able to install a universal gas valve. I don't know about the specifics of that furnace, but with a little "know-how", it can be done. If you aren't sure of "how to", you should be able to find somebody locally who could make it work. If this a standing pilot furnace, spark ignition, or hot surface ignition system? If it's an older model, it's likely to be a standing pilot.

Good luck

yes, it a standing pilot. I've been looking into some of the white-rogers universal units. Probably get one on Ebay and give it a shot. thanks for your thoughts

Any streaking or staining coming out of the burner box cover? If so get a new furnace as you most likely have a crack, rust perforation or leaking heat exchanger seam. With natural gas prices going up another 20 - 30 percent why not get a new 90 - 95 percent efficiency furnace? Your present furnace when new had an efficiency of 60 - 75 percent.
