Replacing A R22 With A R410a, Which Model Would You Choose

you know the R22 is outdated due to the refrigerant being discontinued. the R410a is the replacement. there are a few models such as carrier, trane, rheem while all of them are good, I choose the American Standard as the most efficient. what do you think?

For reasons that would be pretty clear to most HVAC contractors, I do not think you are actually in the trade. You come off like some homeowner experiencing "Buyer's Remorse".

I find in strange that American Standard is not shown on the home page of the link www.floridaairtemp.com.
Trane is but not the parent company.... What is the reasoning here????

I am not screwing the chicken, just holding the legs for my buddies on CT

Pegleg

This was a simple question. The reason behind the question was to find out what other contractors are installing. We have been installing R410A since 1998 in Florida with no problems. Try to play nice with others.

I tell my prospective customers about the changes, and let them make the decision. If it's a retro install, most people choose the r-22 because of the added expense of the new line-set, and because the equipment is slightly higher priced. But if the h/0 never had a/c in the first place, they usually go with the 410.

I stopped offering r22 equipment in April. This was my choice and not the company that I work for. I started in this industry in 1984 when I was 14. I watched my boss in Alabama retire on a trailer load of r12. He bought before the "transition" and sold a few years afterward. R12 even has a drop in replacement. The drop in replacements for r22 are not looking too good to me.
It seems like a disservice to not educate my customers as to the repercussions of purchasing r22 in this day and age. Then again.... if they ask, then I sell. On my proposal you will find a disclaimer about the Montreal protocol and the phasing out of freon.

I don't care for the operating pressures of R410A, I like R407C much better but it isn't used by as many OEMs.
