Radiant Floor Heating In A Large House

We are talking with a new client on building a large 7,000 square foot house in Dallas. They have a very nice budget and we want to spec out radiant floor heating. The foundation is going to be pier and beam.

Can anyone give me guidance on a per square foot costs for radiant floor heating? They are very rare here in Texas so I don't know if we should be thinking about $3 per foot or $10 per foot as a general rule of thumb.

Re: Radiant Floor Heating In A Large House

It depends what they want... 80% boiler, 95% boiler. 1 zone, 12 zones. You really can't put a dollar amount per square foot on this. Right now I'm doing a 12 zone in floor in a 10,000 sq foot house with a 5000 sq foot snow melt and its going to be around 80 grand. Then again, I'm in Wisconsin where the heating requirments are far greater than that of Texas.

I think it will be overkill in Texas.
