PSI Problem

I have an oil furnace in a 3 story row home... It pushes hot water through baseboards with 3/4 copper supply and return... Everything works perfect on the first and second floor.. all my heaters heat up great but on the 3rd floor i have no heat... i checked for stop valves along the way to the boiler and found none... My temp meter is at 120 and my psi meter is at about 15... do i not have enough pressure to get the hot water up to the 3rd floor??? if so how do i change the psi?? and isnt it dangerous if my psi is to high??? HELP!!!!

Re: PSI Problem

Too high psi is dangerous. The qualification is that it is dangerous if it is over the pressure on the relief valve; which means that the relief valve is bad. However, as most relief valves on residential boilers ar 30 psig, yours is well below the limit.

Follow the instructions here for setting the pressure:

Re: PSI Problem

You didn't raise the pressure til there is 4 lbs water pressure at the highest point of the system? That is the point in the reference.

Raise the pressure up to 20 psi and see if you get water with some pressure behind it.

Do you have zone valves or circulators?
