Price Per Linear Ft For New Ductwork

What is a reasonable range to pay for new hard ductwork to replace a run of flexible leakers in the attic...?

one more thing i forgot to mention it must be wrapped with a minimum of r6 but preferably r8 so this should be factored to ur total cost. hope this helps.

BlackHatch,

No offense intended, but I would be inclined to think that since labor and material costs vary greatly by geographical region and you don’t have a location listed in your profile, unless someone here knows where you are, any pricing you get will most likely be very inaccurate and of little use to you.

I'm in the Washington, DC Metro Area. This is the second system in a 2-zone system that is supplying AC and heat to the upstairs floor which is 1200 sq ft. I will check on the duct work size, but currently this system has flexible duct lines - 1 leg feeding one side of the house, the other leg feeding the other side of the house that goes into a distribution box to separate out to two rooms.

Not to sound crass...but is that a joke? I know when guys post up numbers like that before that it is usually to make fun of the person asking the question.

I am just looking for a guesstimate here guys.

Skip the linear foot price and if give me a range for a 3 bedroom upstairs, 2 bath, around 1200 sq/ft upper floor.

You asked a question, I gave you an answer, if you think my price is too high, feel free to charge less.

Depends on access. And how it has to be run.
No one set price.

ha-ha, who's joking who here? Now you're looking for a quote for the job? Try RS Means-they have average numbers and multipliers for various states.

I wasn't sure if you were joking or not.

Like I said, I have seen previously where a person will post up a number and they are pulling a guys leg.

Thanks for the info.

1200 sf, assume 0.5 lb/sf at $10.75 per lb for the duct = $6,450. Figure around 600 sf of ductwrap at $4/sf, that's another $2,400. Add for working in an attic, and my bid comes in at around $11,000.

Bob is close it would be 12-15K for the entire system. 3-5 days on the install. If nothing is extremely complicated.
