Okay eventually I would like to become a HVAC contractor.

I am joining the military for HVAC apprec.

How else can I learn more?

Do you have to specialize in residental or commerical?

You don't have to specialize in one or the other. You can if you want.

well the trade is broken up into different segments, like; heating and air, air conditioning and refrigeration, plumbing and heating, oil heating service, duct design and fabrication or HVAC/R. so one could specialize in one facet or all of them. the only branch of the service i know that really comes close to training hvac that come clase to the same civilian training is the airforce. the navy is good, but mostly industrial chiller stuff, and the army does limited service. good luck!

After you have your head examined, find a good reputable contractor that tries to follow the book and do it right everytime. Work a few years in every facet of the operations. Have your head re-examined if you still want to be an HVAC Contractor. If not confined to a rubber room then offer to buy him out or partner with him, just don't quit & become a competitor after learning the headaches & joys of this career.
